Using weak absorption lines we obtain an improved orbital solution for both components. In the orbital RV curve we observe a strong, asymmetric rotation effect. For the first time we detect rapid spectroscopic multi-mode pulsations in an Algol system. Whereas the photometrically observed oscillations were dominated by monoperiodic pulsations at frequency 64.19c/d until the year 2000, we find in 2001 a multiperiodic behaviour with two dominant frequencies of f1=56.600c/d and f2=64.189c/d. Both modes show amplitude variations over the orbital phase with a minimum at orbital phases phi=0.6-0.8 and a maximum just after the primary minimum (f2) and at phi=0.25 (f1). The different shape of amplitude modulation of the f1 and f2 modes points to different (l,m) mode structures. The modulation itself can be explained by assuming a variable extinction due to gas streams and an inhomogeneous accretion annulus that weakens the light from different regions of the primary depending on its orbital position.</description><source format="bibcode">2004A&amp;A...413..293L</source><referenceURL>https://cdsarc.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/cat/J/A+A/413/293</referenceURL><type>Catalog</type><contentLevel>Research</contentLevel><relationship><relationshipType>IsServedBy</relationshipType><relatedResource ivo-id="ivo://CDS.VizieR/TAP">TAP VizieR generic service</relatedResource></relationship></content><rights>https://cds.unistra.fr/vizier-org/licences_vizier.html</rights><capability><interface xsi:type="vr:WebBrowser"><accessURL use="full">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/413/293</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/413/293</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/VizieR-2?-source=J/A+A/413/293</mirrorURL></interface></capability><capability><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP"><accessURL use="base">https://vizier.cds.unistra.fr/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/413/293</accessURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at IUCAA: Pune, India">https://vizier.iucaa.in/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/413/293</mirrorURL><mirrorURL title="VizieR at SAAO: SAAO, South Africa">http://vizieridia.saao.ac.za/viz-bin/votable?-source=J/A+A/413/293</mirrorURL><queryType>GET</queryType><resultType>text/xml+votable</resultType></interface></capability><capability standardID="ivo://ivoa.net/std/TAP#aux"><interface xsi:type="vs:ParamHTTP" role="std"><accessURL use="base">https://tapvizier.cds.unistra.fr/TAPVizieR/tap</accessURL></interface></capability><coverage><footprint ivo-id="ivo://ivoa.net/std/moc"/><waveband>Optical</waveband></coverage><tableset><schema><name>default</name><table><name>J/A+A/413/293/table3</name><description>Radial velocities</description><column><name>HJD</name><description>Heliocentric Julian date</description><ucd>time.epoch</ucd><dataType xsi:type="vs:VOTableType">double</dataType></column><column><name>recno</name><description>Record number assigned by the VizieR team.
